DIY Gold Accent Vase

This is a quick little DIY that I created when I was just sitting in my room one morning. I had a simple glass vase that was just sitting on a shelf in my room! I had nothing to put in it so it was just an empty and boring vase with no purpose! I figured I needed to act on it fast to bring that little sucker to life. I went searching around my house for something that could do just that to that poor little vase. Spray paint? No.. Flowers? No.. Duct tape? YES!

 

I found some gold glittery duct tape waiting to be used! It was perfect for that vase! I simply took strips of that tape and placed it where I wanted on the vase. It was the perfect addition to my room. I sat it back on the shelf and it was amazing how much it added to my bedroom

                       

It's definitely crazy what a little bit of imagination can do to something. A very quick and easy post but definitely one of my favorites!

DIY Nail Polish Organizer/Display

I'd like to think of myself as a really creative person. I always find myself in the dollar section of stores looking for things that I can use to create other useful items. I was recently at Party City with one of my good friends and it was like I entered into heaven when I reached the party-ware and serveware aisle. It was like I had an epiphany when I found the perfect items to create this Nail Polish Organizer!

I found these two Clear Plastic Egg Trays for only $1.49 and figured they would be perfect to place nail polishes in. Now, I have a lot of nail polish all tucked away into a little drawer. I have always needed something like this! I went home and found a plastic glass like the one shown that would work in place as a stand to connect the two egg trays together.

I then spray painted the two with a white spray paint. I thought the white would look awesome against all of the color polishes that would be displayed on it.

What I did next was hot glue the top of the glass to one of the egg trays upside down, and then hot glued the bottom of the glass onto the bottom of one of the egg trays. It was so simple to do.

                           

I placed all of my favorite most-used nail polishes onto the indents of the organizer. I also put marbles onto the top egg tray where that little circle indention is to add a little bit of extra beauty to it. I'm really impressed with the way this organizer turned out. It looks like it was bought at the store to use specifically for nail polishes. I suppose you could also use this as a jewelry organizer! It would work perfect for that as well.

DIY Christmas Trees

I am a Christmas fanatic. I love all things Christmas whether it is the food, the music, the spirit, or even the decorations! With Thanksgiving already being just a week away and Christmas coming before we know it, I figured I might as well start brainstorming on ways I can bring the spirit to my bedroom! I went around my home today looking for things I could use to remodel my room in a Christmas themed way. I went to our "junk room" and came out with three orange plastic cones and two cans of spray paint. What would I do without spray paint?

So what I did is very simple! I easily took the three cones and sprayed two of them silver and one of them gold. I let them dry and voila! It's really that easy!

I know it doesn't look like anything yet, but it is the way you decorate and use them that makes them come to life! I found two plain white ball ornaments and a strip of big ribbon we had laying around. I put the ribbon down and placed the cones in my preferred placement and then just placed the two ornaments around the cones. 

I am really in love with the way these came together! Something so simple can make your room/home come alive with Christmas spirit! I mean it is the most wonderful time of the year, isn't it?

DIY Makeup Brush Holder

I was looking in my closet for an outfit to wear when I saw these old candles stored at the top of my closet. I didn't want them to go to waste so I tried to think of a good use for the glass holder. I ended up making two makeup brush holders: one for eye brushes and one for face brushes. 

If you have some old candles that you want to reuse, taking the wax out of the glass jars is very simple! There are plenty of ways you could go about this. 

FIRST OPTION

• You can easily just heat the glass up over a candle melter or burner to melt the wax. After that, just pour the wax out into the trash!

SECOND OPTION (the option I went with)

• Take a knife and cut slashes through the leftover wax.
• Fill the glass with boiling hot water.
• The wax will then melt and float to the top.
• Let the glass holder sit for about 20 minutes so it can cool.
• Take out all the chunks of wax (if there are still some chunks left at the bottom, you can take a knife and easily scrape it out)

After you have a clean, glass candle holder, you will then decide what you want to do with it. As you can see, I took gold spray paint and sprayed both of the holders. I chose gold because it goes with the color scheme of my room. You can choose any color of your preference and spray it however you want to. I left one of the holders solid gold but then decided to add some glam to the other one. I took a strip of double sided scotch tape and taped it around the edge of the holder. I then took black glitter and sprinkled it all around the tape. This part got a little messy so make sure you are in a good environment for this. 

I stuck all of my brushes into them and it definitely spiced up my makeup desk. I really like how they turned out and encourage all of you to do it. So inexpensive and easy!

DIY Jewelry Tray

A big problem of mine recently was that all of my jewelry was just thrown into a tiny box. The process of going through the box everyday to find that "one necklace" or the "other earring" was so time consuming. It came to me that I really needed a cute and inexpensive way to display and organize all of my jewelry. I knew that it would help me save time in the mornings. 

I went through my house on a search to find something that could solve my problem. I went through cabinets and drawers and finally found the one item.

I found this little tray in a drawer that I guess was used at a party to display food at one point. You could find these anywhere though from Dollar Tree to Target. I took a can of Krylon Shimmer Metallic Spray Paint in Silver and transformed the tray. I then found a place in my room to put it and laid out all of my necklaces, bracelets, rings, and earrings all in different little compartments. I then placed a vase with old roses (I'm a sentimental person who doesn't like to throw things away) in the center to add a little glam. It was such an inexpensive way to solve that daily problem of tangled bracelets and lost earrings.
