Eyebrow Threading

I was always one who'd rather waxing my brows over anything else. I recently started researching which technique is the better way to get those perfectly arched eyebrows and I found the winner - eyebrow threading!

In threading, a thin thread is doubled, then twisted. It is then rolled over areas of unwanted hair, plucking the hair at the follicle level. Unlike tweezing, where single hairs are pulled out one at a time, threading can remove short lines of hair. This technique causes the hair not to grow back for weeks because you are pulling the hairs at the follicle. So if you are one that hates tweezing, this is the way to go!

I always heard that if you want a nice shape to your eyebrows, threading is the best option. While threading, it is very easy to create an arch rather than if you waxed. I decided to test this theory. I let my brows grow out for two weeks - it was very hard, but I succeeded. After two weeks, I went to a nearby threading studio and let them go to work! These were the results :

I was so impressed with the results. My eyebrows have such a beautiful shape that I have never had before. They are sparse in some areas but that is no problem because I am one to fill in my eyebrows on a daily basis! This is definitely a technique that I will continue using for the rest of my life! Bye bye waxing!

Things To Know Before Threading

  • Don't wear mascara! Your eyes are going to water like never before. Unless you want to walk out of the shop looking like a crying raccoon, I advise you not to wear any mascara.
  • Prepare for pain. It's not AS BAD as you hear, but definitely isn't painless. Don't let this make you nervous though. Once you see your eyebrows, you will forget about all of the pain.
  • Let the person doing your eyebrows know exactly what you want. If you want a nice arch, go ahead and tell them! If you want just a clean up, let them know!
  • For best results, let your eyebrows grow out for some time before going! The person doing them will have more to work with.

Prom Guide 101

One of the most exciting parts of the year for many teenage girls is sneaking it's way around the corner! We girls need to begin planning out what dress we are going to wear, what accessories we are going to put on, and my favorite part - what makeup look we will be wearing! This post is going to be all about COLOR!

Determining Your Undertones

This is the easiest way to determine which colors best suit your skin tone and what colors will bring out your beauty. Pull up your sleeve and look at the veins on your wrist! If you see blue veins, you most likely have a cool-toned undertone and will look better in cool-toned colors. If you look down and see green veins, it is because you are warm-toned and will look better in warm-toned colors! If you see both blue and green, that just means you are one of the lucky neutral ones and can pull off any color!

Take What You Know and Apply It To Other Areas

Dress Finding

Now that you know what undertone your skin has, it will be a lot easier to decide what color dress you want!

Cool-toned ladies: Because cool-toned colors flatter your skin the most, blues, greens and purples are your best option.
Warm-toned ladies: Because warm-toned colors flatter your skin the most, reds, oranges, and yellows will be your best option!
Neutral ladies: Both warm-toned and cool-toned colors will flatter your skin tone.

Accessory Picking

If you are the type of person that likes to wear accessories, it's an awesome idea to know what undertone your skin carries. Your skin tone can make certain colors look amazing and it's nice to know which colors those are.

Cool-toned ladies: If you are cool-toned, silver accessories will flatter you the best.
Warm-toned ladies: If you are warm-toned, gold accessories will flatter you.
Neutral ladies: Gold and silver are your best friends!

Makeup Deciding

After you have everything decided, from your dress down to your accessories, the makeup is your last decision! If you are doing your makeup yourself, it's always hard to pick what look you want to achieve or what colors you will use. Just like when it comes to dress findings and accessory picking, the eye shadow you choose to wear should be chosen based on your undertone!

Cool-toned ladies: I would go for a look with shades of grey such as charcoal, pewter, or even go for a black smokey eye. Of course you can use any other cool-toned color as well such as blue or purple.
Warm-toned ladies: Shades of brown, red, and orange will best suit your look!
Neutral ladies: Any color you desire, but make sure it matches your dress!

Always remember that there are no rules in the beauty or fashion world! It is always your decision on what you choose to wear. You can rock any color in the world if you prove it with your confidence!

7 Makeup Tips and Tricks

Every person needs a few good tips that will make their mornings a bit easier! These seven beauty tips will help you with your daily beauty routine in more ways than one!

Scotch Tape Stencil

Put a small strip of tape on the outer corner of your eye to create a perfect stencil for either your eye liner or your eye shadow to create a sharp edge. Be sure to rub the tape on the back of your hand a few times before to ensure that the tape wont be too sticky and harm your skin.

Plastic Spoon When Applying Mascara

Don't you hate when you are applying mascara and it gets messy on your skin? Use a plastic spoon as a guard when applying mascara to your upper and lower lashes to prevent the mess!

Tightlining

Want the effect of having eye makeup on but don't feel like putting in the effort in having to do it? Take a dark pencil eyeliner and gently apply on your upper water line! This will give you the effect of thick and fuller eye lashes without mascara!

Match Foundation To Your Neck

Most of the time when trying to find a new foundation, we match the foundation shade to either our face or hand. The best thing to do is match the shade to your neck. You want to be sure that the color of your face (with makeup on) is identical to the color of your neck so that you will not have a line of where your foundation starts and your neck color begins.

Long-lasting Lipstick

After applying a lipstick, take some translucent powder and sweep it across your lips. This will give you a long-lasting matte look that will stay put all day!

DIY Makeup Brush Cleanser

Don't be fooled by all of the products out there that claim to be the best cleansers for your beauty tools. You can easily use items you most likely already have at home. I take a small glass of warm water and add a few drops of Dawn's Dish Soap to clean my brushes. I dip my brush in the mixture and swirl it around my hand and rinse. If you have dry skin, adding a small amount of Olive Oil to your mixture is a great thing to add to your brushes so that every use will condition your skin.

"Tint" Your Eyelashes

If you have lighter eyelashes and you love the color that mascara gives them but really don't feel like taking the time to apply mascara, you can take a felt tip liner and sweep it vertically along your eyelashes to give them a darker tint!

I apologize for this post being two days late. I recently started a new job and I now work on Saturdays and Sundays. I will try my best to continue to post on Sundays! If not on Sunday, no more than three days after!
